PaperMake Enterprises Ltd does not recommend the use of this product; it is in our inventory for access if insisted upon. The following is an explanation of our stance on this product. Dichlorobenzene is an extremely hazardous chemical; in fact, recent studies have proven that they are very carcinogenic. And yet, paraszone dichlorobenzene urinal blocks, popular for deodorizing urinals since the 1930's, continue to be widely distributed in the market place today. The ultimate irony is that the product is primarily dysfunctional to its originally intended purpose of "deodorizing" a restroom facility. Urinal tabs do not actually deodorize at all, they just mask the washroom scent and a good majority of patrons (surveys indicate over 65%) actually dislike the scent altogether. MSDS information states that this product's vapors may be harmful; and yet, what was the reason for putting them in the urinals in the first place? Urinal pucks do not dissolve properly, and so, the slimy residue mixes with minerals and sediments itself building up as blockage in your urinal down pipe. This blockage is what keeps the Roto Rooters employed. The chemical paraszone dichlorobenzene is a poor antibacterial agent so the sediment and blockage becomes a breeding ground for bacteria which, yes you guessed it, actually causes the urinal odours you are trying to cover up. Hockey pucks are fairly quick to dissolve, lasting between 10 to 14 days depending on water flow. PaperMake Enterprises Ltd suggests using more current alternatives that are safer, environmentally friendly, last longer, require less maintenance, and are actually designed to deodorize and clean the urinal fixtures at approximately the same running costs to our members.
